101 things about me (part four)
Sep 17th, 2007 by Ron Dauphin
I love dark chocolate.
I was very moved to visit the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam. You can see a church steeple and hear the bells ring from the room where she and her family hid from the Nazis.
My favorite Communion hymn is “I Come with Joy”.
I like to go fishing but I never want to own a boat. It’s too much work.
As a child, I was very close to my mother’s mother. Because of that relationship, there’s always been a special place in my heart for older adults.
I have vivid memories of the devastation of Hurricane Betsy in 1965. The roof blew off my family’s home while we were in it.
I sunburn easily.
I hate emptying the dishwasher. Sometimes I let dirty dishes pile up in the sink because a full, clean load is in the dishwasher.
I enjoy having a fire in the fireplace on a winter night.
I use a gas grill in the backyard because it’s convenient; but in principle, I like charcoal better (the real stuff, not briquets).
I like many forms of music: classical, jazz, pop, and sacred.
I’m not a regular listener of contemporary Christian music.
I believe being a Christian in America has become too comfortable, and we take too much for granted.
I make lists. Grocery lists. 101 Things about Me lists. Pros and cons lists for decision making. Things to do lists. And…well…lists of my lists.
I have lived in Elyria longer than I have lived anywhere in my life.
Someday I’d like to work on an advanced degree.
I am an optimist. I definitely have a positive outlook on life. But I’m not naïve and I have experienced pain in my life as well.
I had my gallbladder removed in 2005. It’s the only surgery I’ve had except for tonsil removal as a child.
I’m not a good patient.
Nothing smells better to me than bread baking in the oven.
I like photography, both film and digital. I often post photos online to share with others.
Cheddar, Havarti with dill, and Gouda are my favorite kinds of cheeses.
For two summers during college I was a church camp counselor and lifeguard.
I have an active sweet tooth; very active.
I love God and am loved by God. I want others to know they can experience that happiness and security too.
