My drive home through New Hampshire and Vermont was long and wonderful. Overcast skies kept the glare out of my eyes. I had the iPod cycling through all the public radio shows that I download but never get to listen to: This American Life, Fresh Air, All Songs Considered, and This I Believe segments. It was like a quiet, grey day at home with nothing to do but read…and the iPod was doing the reading for me. The scenery was breathtaking, and I made several stops just to take pictures.
Vermont brought some higher elevations, winding roads, and the abundance of fall color that I had hoped to see.
Just as the sun was going down, I stopped at a roadside stand and bought a crisp apple and a hunk of Vermont cheddar. I was good to go.
